His parents and siblings lived with Tabassum’s family. His father’s name was Ayodhyanath Sachdev and his mother’s name was Asghari Begum. He had two brothers whose names are not known.

Tabassum started his career at the age of 4 only. She also worked as a host on the radio show Phoolwadi. She used to talk, sing songs and recite poems with the children. In the year 1948, his photo was displayed on All India Radio Manganese.
She gained a lot of fame during the telling of the radio show. She returned to the radio show in 1970. After this, She did a joke-based show Maratha Darbar Ki Mehkti Batein on the radio.
Tabassum started his film career at the age of three. Nargis Kari Thi was the first movie of her career, it was her debut film. Tabassum charged Rs 5000 for this movie. This film was released in 1947. He told in one of his interviews that Nargis had made his debut with the movie.
In the same year, Tabassum acted in the Hindi movie Mera Mera Suhaag. After this Manjhdhar was also seen in the movie. Many of his Hindi movies have been released. Tabassum was a very famous actress in her time.
Tabassum appeared in the lead role in the 1966 Hindi movie Zimbo Ka Beta. In this movie, he acted as his lead character. After this, he started appearing in the lead role in every movie. It had crossed its fan following further. People loved his movie very much.
She appeared in the lead role in the movie Upar Gagan Vishal. It was released in 1971.
In 1972, she worked as a host on the Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan TV show. The show ran from 1972 to 1993. This TV show used to come on Doordarshan
